I've heard that it is in America, but that nobody cares and all this business, but is that the case in Australia?

Australia has plastic money, so it is difficult at best to write on it. As for illegal, yes, but it is done all the time, just as it is in America.

Yes, it is certainly legal. Only thing is, you must under penalty of punishment only write good things on the money. This was the law the last time I was in Australia last summer 2006. Thanks.

Yes it is.
Defacing currency is illegal but hard to police.

Not that I have heard of. hehe i like to write messages with my invisible texta. but i doubt anyone sees it. it probably gets washed away..
