Spear. A Desert island doesn't have trees so fire would not be available.

Flint would allow me heat, light at night, safety from animals and the possibility of being seen from the air or water by rescue teams. A spear couldn't do any of that.

Flint, so I could make fire! I can make myself a weapon later, since I'll probably have a lot of time on my hands. But without flint, well, making a fire would be REALLY hard.
