Ok lets review. By doing it yourself, you run the risk of (from least to worst), causing yourself severe pain, doing it in the wrong place, leaving a scar, leaving a lopsided hole in your face, not being sterile, paralysing your lip, infecting your lip, getting a blood infection, contracting septicemea and dying. Yeah...thats a fun way to save 50 bucks.

personally, i think the lip thing is way over done, but that's beside the point. i really really really suggest you don't do that. if its a money issue, jsut save up. if its an age issue, jsut wait. think about it. pericings are not as permanent as tattoos but they are still something to think about. you're going to go through a lot more pain doing it yourself. not to mention if it gets infected which it probably will becuase you are not a professional, the infection can be realyl painful too. you'll end up taking it out and having a nasty scar from doing it yourself and getting infected. infections are not only gross but really harmful. they can spead and cause major health problems. all just for peircing your lip and looking like everyone else with a pierced lip. if you have to do it, get it done professionally. if you choose to not take this advice, then a tip would be to shove in whatever you are peircing with really hard and fast...you're not going to want to prolong it.

okay well like everyone is saying, its definitely better to get it done by a professional. my friend had her lip pierced for a few months and she got it done professionally and she had no problems with it. i do know alot of people who did it themselves though, and had no problems. i would say definitely sterilize the needle you use, and dont use a sewing needle.. you should use something a bit thicker than that. use a clamp to keep your lip steady while you do it, and pierce it in one smoothe movement. my friend said she didnt feel a thing when she did it, but that was with a professional. also, clean it out everyday with peroxide or something similar to that. make sure you watch for signs of infection and DEFINITELY go to a doctor if something goes wrong. be careful. liprings are awesome though, so im sure it will turn out great if you do it right.
