What day are you talking about 12-23-2012? The last day of the Mayan calendar?

What alignment is that? Anyway, no astronomical alignment has the ability to shift the Earth's poles.

The only alignment in 2012 that interests me is the total eclipse of the Sun in November that year that will be seen in northern Australia from Darwin to Cairns.
