This makes no sense since I have high speed internet. My computer is 6-7 months old so I don't see what the problem is.

The speed is 100 MBPS
Activity: Sent (Estimate 160,000) Recieved (Estimate 189,000)

But when it comes to using Internet Explorer, everything loads very slow including searching.

I rebooted my computer two days ago because of other issues so there shouldn't be a spyware/ adware problem.

Can anyone help me? Thank you.

I've tested my internet connection with certain websites that determine the speed but that's really no help.

100mbps is not your speed to the internet, its just the speed between your computer and the high speed internet box (cable modem or dsl modem). The speed from there out to the Internet is different, and much slower.

Your speed to the internet is probably much closer to 1mbps. This means about 100KB a second download at top speed -- and that's only if the place you're downloading from can work that fast.

Filesharing networks are a lot slower, often, because it depends on how many other people have the file you want, and aren't full with downloads from other people.

Uploading is almost always slower than downloading. Usually the speed that the high speed internet company gives you is the download speed. The upload speed is usually considerably slower (like 1/4 as fast).

If you've run an online speed tester and it looked okay, then there's nothign wrong with your internet connection.

If pages are slow to load, it could be you have a slow computer, or other things are running that are taking up memory and CPU time.

Please go to http://reviews.cnet.com/7004-7254_7-0.html this link and check your bandwidth first.

Have someone PING your IP address to check the resposnse time.

Check some new device attached is not causing any issues as well. Sometime replacing the Network Cable also resolves the issue.

Try to reboot your DSL/Cable modem. If noramlly fixes the issue if not then first download Spybot and Ad-aware (they work great in a combination) and clean your PC from Spyware & Trojans. Just by rebooting your machine doesn't fix the spyware and other malware issues.

Still slow? ... Go ahead and UNINSTALL the Web browser (IE, Firefox..) and REINSTALL it. If you are PC Savvy then remove the entries from the registry first then REINSTALL the Web Browser.

There is also a possibility that your available bandwidth is being shared by someone. Call your ISP support line since sometimes it happens from the ISP side too. They do the maintenance and don't notify the customer.

Good luck!

30kb/s is not very fast, and connection is based on many factors, and a computer doesn't not play a major role in your internet connection. Double check if you have lots of programs using the internet (e.g. a messanger or you are downloading something or something like jukebox that is connected to the internet). Also, there is a slight possibility somebody around you is doing something called "modem capping" or in other words they're stealing your bandwith, but thats unlikely.

you can also all you isp (internet service provider) they could also be having problems in the area there could be packet loss on the line also if you have a splitter try removing that sometimes splitters ware down the signal coming in or maybe try a new splitter because what it does is split your connection to your tv and internet and sometimes it dont give enough to the internet line and you connection wont be good :-)

typing in Internet connection speed problems into google works wonders.

I have Macafee and Verizon speed testers. both give me different results.

However on one of the sites they give you hints on how to speed up ;your computer including defragmenting your hard drive. getting rid of useless programs, making sure your crap cleaner is up to date, along with spy bot and virus protection.

I do not know alot about computers, but it helped me.

GOOGLE
Blind Woo has the site I was talking about,, just checked it out.
Very Helpful..............
