to shut down the other computer , hit the off button , windows xp takes care of the rest.

Push the cntl alt del keys at the same time to bring up the task manager.
push the applications tab and highlite the chat program
push the end task button.

Sounds suspicious.
I would push and hold the start button for 8 seconds, and do a hard shutdown. Upon reboot, hold F8 and when you get a black screen with options, move the up arrow on your keyboard to safe mode with networking option. (only essential object will open)
When the computer boots up, go to the following link and on the left hand side, halfway down, push the online scan button. This will take about an hour, but will find any and all virus's in your computer. It will automatically delete the infected files. When it is done, reboot normally.
