Led Zepplin is one of my favorite classic rock bands and Stairway to Heaven is one of their most well know songs. Many people i know, including myself, have different opinions as to what the song is about/ means. I would like to have some opinions on what other people believe that the songs means.

It's a huge metaphor the song and it seems to be about a woman who is going to commit suicide with the hopes that it takes her to a better place (possibly o'd-ing on something?).
The song seems to talk about the ponderance of it, and is it speeds up at the end, it occurs; and the end of the song suggests that she's dead and us, the listener are all that's left.

I'm not sure what the song was written to mean. I've never really cared. What's important is what it means to me or how it makes me feel. Many times, what a song means to me is far from what the song writer meant, and that's OK. I don't watch many music videos because most of the time the video ruins my preception of the song.
It is a GREAT song!

Great song, but like many rock songs the lyrics give the the band a good laugh knowing people are wracking their brains trying to decypher it. C'mon, "Do you have a bustle in your hedgerow?" That's stonerspeak.

like the first person said...It's just a good song. why does everthing have to be evaluated and dugg into. maybe theres a meaning, maybe theres not...i dont really care all i know is when Im chillin,BBQing, or at the beach, or puffing on a blunt and i hear that song, it's like a lullibye for adults....it puts me in a daydream and its just awesome. Cant we just accept the song for it's face value and not evaluate it?
