I had a hard time too when I started...first start by looking at the diagram and doing as they do it, once you are used to inserting it you can do it your own way....and you also may be too small for the bigger tampons. Try using Junior sized first...they are made for young girl's bodys...or just use the regular flow ones....(although if you are really heavy you may need a pad along with it to catch the extra flow.) If all else fails ask your mom, an older sister or a woman you trust to show you the proper way to insert a tampon....it should not be uncomfotable....you should barely feel it.
BTW- I see people are telling you to use the O.B. tampons...if you do PLEASE remember to make sure the string hangs...you wont be able to get it out without the string.

Okay! Don't worry, I had a lot of trouble and confusion when I first started using tampons as well! You may want to try the small size, there are all different kinds of brands out there! You just got to experiment with a few different kinds... About putting it in, I would talk to your mom? Only because I'm sure it would be easier explaining it in person! What helped me A LOT were the directions in the box! Haha I hope this helped you a little bit(: Oh and p/s I like the playtex tampons, they come in various sizes and they also have playtex sport tampons which I think would be best for you! Good luck girl!

first just because it says it is a sport tampon does not mean it works any better.you might have to try a couple different ones, never buy the cheep one they hurt,i use Playtex gentle glide because I'm sensitive down there and they seem to work the best for me. it has taken a few years for me to find the right ones. also try the way you are standing when you put it in,it might help to have one leg up on the toilet or side of tub, never force it in if you can feel it or is uncomfortable take it out and try a new one, you should not be able to feel it at all. you can also try to use the regular size not super because they are bigger. or talk to the doctor you see for your physicals. Finlay ask your mom.

You are probably not ready to use them.
At your age, it is very likely that you will not be likely to wear them comfortably. There are junior tampons made for teens (slender) that might work. Discuss this with your pediatrician and your mom/ elder sister.
If you try to hard to insert it, you can damage the area! There is a possibility that your hymen perforations are too small.
Many athletic women wear pads. Try the thin long ones with wings to stay in place!
Good luck.

Try to lubricate the tampon first and practice when your not on your period. The tampon can't hurt just take your time but practice don't wait your period comes that worst time to be fumbling around down there.

i find the ones with the plastic applicator are more comfortable to put in because the slide up there easier, i think that may be the ones you are talking about because they are playtex too.
you might want to try using the ones without an applicator, they are "o.b" tampons, and they may be easier to guide up there.
until you are sexually active and losen things up in there they won't be very comfortable to put in. i'm not saying go out and have sex or anything...don't do that at all, but it will just be easier when that time comes.

Oooh, no fun!! Well, listen to that guy 'mick t' posted above me, he knows what he's talking about. But don't listen to that girl 'xplodeit', she doesn't know what she's talking about. It's true that you can get Toxic Shock Syndrome(TSS) from keeping a tampon in to long, but there ARE NOT ANY LESS SANITARY THAN PADS! If anything, they are MORE sanitary, because I've had problems with pads like they can chaffe your thighs and such! Good Luck!

Try something smaller like a junior size tampon. Put one leg up on a toilet and take a mirror to see how it goes in. You'll feel pressure, but you'll get the hang of it soon.

I wish I had asked someone. I know it sounds stupid but I left the cardboard on it.
Stand w/one foot on the toilet seat -- be sure to insert the applicator entirely until your fingers touch your skin & only then should you push the plunger. Try to angle it back toward your spine, not upwards towards your waist.
