Different everywhere but generally low income for the area. Where I live, they take home about $250 a week after taxes to start.

Here is ur answer.Cops/police officers make prettty darn good.I've never heard them getting lesser than $1800.00 net/month.Guess what! this is after all the deductibles.Their insurance, medicals&benefits is not like yours or mine. They get the best. The service they give is not even 1% of that of a soldier in Iraq. They got overtime plus they can make extra $50.00/hr working as a security guy in department stores. No dirty job.Once in the street, they r the bosses. They r the law, they can have all the breaktime they want, have all the donuts, all the coffees, all the street hookers, all the respect we give them out of fear. They can stop & ticket any person they brand, leaving the blond speeding in exchange for her phone#.And more, we make contibutions whenever they got this drive over the phone. They never say they're paid enough, never. They can even shoot u if the angle is right and still ur corpse is gonna pay for their lawyer's fee.How many cops you've seen living in an apartement???so don't worry, they're paid very good. It's us who is endangered by them financially.

It totally depends on what state and town they work for. According to http://swz.salary.com/salarywizard/layouthtmls/swzl_compresult_national_LG12000003.html
The median expected salary for a typical Police Patrol Officer in the United States is $46,290.
I've seen them as low as in the 20's.

It all depends upon what region of the country you are in. Most departments around here average between $25-35K a year starting out, while the bigger ones may start out averaging around $35-40K a year starting.

Depends on where your talking about. In Louisiana, about $1500.00 per month starting, and in Texas, bigger cities, about $1800-2100.00 per month starting.
Law enforcement, Fire Fighters and EMT's dont get the pay they deserve

it varies from state to state but for the most part they don't make near what they should for the job they're asked to do.
