Unfortunately you do. You can sue the town or city if they made a mistake, but I doubt you get anywhere.

You pay the bill, guilty or not. That's just the way it is, unfortunately.

if your guilty, your on the hook
if you not you still might be on the hook
some cities will sheild law enforcement from such action or have a general funds for such damages from such actions
