In reality, how common and harsh are wife beatings in islamic countries. Do a lot of guys really just slap their wives around and beat the crap out of them, or is it less common than it looks on film.

When ever you have oppression....evil gets out of control....so I tend to believe it to be true.

Sure it happens, but it also happens here.
About the film though:
1) We have NEVER heard his part of the story. We assume that this was such a terrible situation. It may be been, but it's a huge possibility that she exaggerated the truth.
2) She has denied a father his paternity rights. If he was an abusive father, where is he now? Why have we not heard of him?
3) Many facts don't make sense. Why did she pull out her BC? There are MANY inaccuracies.
So is it true? Parts of it, maybe. Do a lot of men really abuse their wives to that level? I've known many Iranian families and would consider that a huge NO. Of course I've known more Christian American wife-beaters.

They beat them and kill them on a regular basis. Until recently (and maybe not now either) there were no laws to punish them for it. It is a bad place and most people from this country have no idea the pain and suffering that goes on. Live a happy life and be grateful for what you have.

Good question!When something goes unreported stats would say it does not exists. It would be disrespectful to the husband to report him or even life threatening to the woman. But in Islam as in all good religions, women are mere possessions,
