I currently have a brick patio in my backyard. The bricks are very cool and about 70 years old. I'd like to reuse them for a new patio I'm going to be building. What is the best way to remove the old mortar and restore the bricks?

I dug up and cleaned masses of them--used a hammer and a little thin bladed spatula like you use for spackle on a hole in the wall--worked perfect and very few broke.

You have to have it sandblasted, I would use a professional for this project, if you did it yourself, you might take off too much.
