I am also single. Because I love holidays instead of focusing on me, I focus on others. Sweets to a couple of elderly friends, maybe flowers if in the mood.
Then I will time with other single mates (uni age), and down deep think that in the course of my graduate course I will finally meet the love of my life.
So as was said long ago, stiff upper lip, maybe do somethng for yourself, such as a nice meal or box of sweets, or good times with mates.
Life is too short to not completely enjoy every moment, and in some way, every holiday.
My tuppence worth,
--That Cheeky Lad

No because it is a Hallmark holiday and is just a day on the calender. Why should you wait until the calender tells you to buy someone a gift....it's better in my opinion to surprise someone/be surprised when you least expect it. I'm in a relationship and thankfully my partner thinks the same way I do.

I have a girlfriend, but I dislike valentine's day because I think this holiday has become so commercial. All the girls do is I want this, I want that. My girlfriend is not like this. I don't like this holiday because I can never get my girlfriend something that she likes...

Yes, you should not, but there's a community element to it ... the opportunity to celebrate your love on the same day as many other people, which adds a different flavor when you are in love. But yes, it is so heartbreaking, as is Christmas, when you are alone and have to think about what you are missing.

Dont sweat it , it is just another day, there is nothing to dread but i know where you are coming from.
