I can afford to live in a trailer as a 23 yr old making 43k per year (with no down payment) around where I live. Other areas of the country where'd I'd be making the same amount doing what I do I can afford a very nice house. How are disparancies in the market this bad possible?

Joe K:
I know what you're saying, but Texas is growing while CT is shrinking and that may have something to do with what I'm talking about here.

How does it get to the point where in a nice suburb of Houston, still a growing city/region, I can afford a nice house while in East Bumf*ck in CT, an area which has more cows than people, a crappy trailer is more expensive?

TX vs. CT.

How big is TX vs. CT? How many people live/want to live in each area? Very much supply and demand among other things. You should see the prices in Mexico and other Central and South American countries? I realize both of the above are in the US - but as they say in real estate - location, location, location...

Sorry to state the obvious - but there isn't really a better way to say it.
