Lots of things can trigger migraines - consult with your doctor right away, because there are some good medicines nowadays to help treat migraines.
You might be triggered by certain spicy foods, tension, hormone surges, rapid changes in temperature (moving from cold outdoors to hot indoors repeatedly), bright or glaring light, working too long at the computer, spinal misalignments.... the list goes on. Pay attention and take notes so you can recognize yours.
Good treatments include lying down in a cool dark room, massage or chiropractic treatments, and pain relief medications. My best friend took Topomax for her almost daily migraines, and it cured her (although it really messed up her body chemistry for awhile).

It depends on why you get them. It could be stress or a medical condition.
My mother gets migraines from corn products, and has to make sure the food that she buys doesn't contain any at all, which is rather difficult to do.
If it's stress related, yoga or meditation classes are really something to look into.

i used to get them when i was little, like 5 & 6 years old. i remember how sick they made me, and how much pain i was in. i think i may have got one since. my mom gets them really bad, like one every month or more. she finds that alcohol, and loud music trigger hers. she can't go to dances or anything where there is loud music anymore. fumes from paint, varnish, or anything like that can trigger them as well. some people find that coffee, and chocolate do too, you should keep track of what you eat and drink, and try to find a pattern, and then maybe you can avoid getting them all the time.
there is a perscription drug called doxipin (or something like that, it might be wrong) that you can take everynight before you go to bed, you take it everyday, it's suppose to help you sleep, and prevent migraines.

OK! So I get migranes too, piercing blinding ones that make me dizzy and neaseaus. and this is what my doctor told me:
don't eat too close to bed time (within 2 hours)
avoid hard chocolate and cheeses
avoid caffine
drink water
and worst of all, avoid stress.
If you start to get a migrane, eat and drink water (I always eat like a sandwich or something with meat) and take 2 Excedrin.
hope this helps. works for me totally.

My son had them as a child, we eventually tried taking him off foods that might cause them, he seemed to do better when he did not eat as many dairy products. Also, he seemed to develop them when he was under a lot of stress at school. Good luck, I know they are awful!

knowing what triggers your migraines is the key to avoiding them, Like mine are caused by chocolate, and while I was on birth control pills they caused them as well.

i have been getting them since i was 5 or 6 what works for me is when i feel them coming on to take ib profin (follow directions) and if that doesn't help then to try and sleep it off which usually works, you can try Tylenol but i found it doesn't work and most dr's tell you not to use it since it doesn't work that well
