Yes it is very normal to have these symptoms.
You ovulate 14 days before the onset of your period.

im actually in this situation right now...i am on birth control and getting spotting and period cramps...although slight...im alittle worried about it but as far as i understood it seems to be normal

It's normal...it's called PMS (premenstrual syndrome or something). If something really odd is happening, go see a doctor.
