Laser Prostate Surgery?

I would like to know people's experience with this laser surgery. I have an enlarged prostate and don't like to take medication. PSA is normal at 2.6 with no cancer, any advice? I am 60yo and otherwise in good health, thanks.

First off, let me say that I don't have any first hand experience with TULA. But I do have an opinion, FWIW. First off, I agree with you about drug therapies. Chronic drugs for a repairable mechanical problem would seem to me to be the wrong choice.

My opinion: I favor traditional TURP to a laser procedure. The reason is simple: the chips extracted in a TURP procedure can be biopsied for cancer. It's probably not necessary, but it's a peace of mind for perhaps a little extra discomfort. You can't do this with laser or microwave, because the ablated tissue is vaporized.

The reason I suggest this is because even though you have a low PSA, and even though you probably had a good biopsy report, prostate cancer is sometimes good at hiding.

Just something to think about.

Never had laser surgery. I did have cryosurgery (freezing) for prostate cancer. That was 8 years ago. I would think that laser surgery would be less painful. They have made a lot more improvements since I had mine done. Good luck

There are other different prostate surgery than laser surgery you can try to research them: it's much easier to detect prostate cancer in its early stages:
