For bedroom practice you only need a 15 - 30 Watt amp. The 30 will suffice if you play in a band.

Try looking around at different models as Marshall can be quite expensive and there are some great amps out there that are just as good if not better. If you have a decent music store close by then spend a few hours there asking the staff as they are usually musicians themselves and try out a few makes and models.

I play through a Line 6 Spider III which is awesome but pricey. Go have fun in a store for a day, trust me the staff will be more than happy to help.

Here are some reviews of marshall amps...different amps for different uses. You really don't need a stack for a garage band a combo would work. I myself like the tube amp.....the valvestate technology I have never really liked that much. I think the natural tube sound is much better. Just my opinion.

How many watts do you need? Are you going to be gigging? I found this Marshall Half-Stack for $599.99, seems pretty good, but you should ask at www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum
