I really like the name Micah for a girl, but people are telling me its a boys name.
Im from Australia and here it isnt common. What do you think?

One of my best friends is Micah and she is a girl and I think its a beautiful name for a girl but it is usually considered a boys name even in the bible it was a boys name. But it seems pretty girly to me. I would defiantly consider naming a a girl Micah. Also my friend Micah who is a girl has a wonderful personality. She is very kind, soft spoken, sweet, wonderful with children, sharing and beautiful and loyal. A wonderful name.

Micah is typically a boys name, but in this day and age lots of people use boy names for girls. It's cute, and if you're happy with it go for it. Don't be surprised if at first people mistake your baby for a boy. That tends to happen no matter what you name your child.

It is most commonly a boy's name, but one of my best friends is named Micah, and yes she is female. There are tons of names that people use as both boy's and girls' names. If you like the name, use it...it's YOUR baby, not anyone else's!

I think it's a nice name for a boy or girl. Many names are non-gender. There's always Michaela - or some form of that if you like. Go with your heart, but remember the child will become an adult and will have to live with it in the business world.

I know a girl of the same name and it isn't common here in TX either. There may be a male with that name or close to it in the Bible and that is why people think it's a boy's name. Regardless, if you like it, and it isn't going to embarrass your child as she gets older, go with it.

I've never heard of the name Micah, but sorry it does sound rather masculine. I think ebcause it is very close to the name Michael. An alternative to Michael though is Malca. It is Hebrew for "queen." It is also my Hebrew name.
