San Diego. It doesnt rain during summer and it's perfect weather, 75-85 in the day and 65-70 at night. The water is also warm during the summer and the beaches are amazing, especially in La Jolla, good snorkeling there too. Tons of family attractions: world famous SD Zoo, Wild Animal Park (it's like the zoo except the animals roam around freely), SeaWorld, Legoland, ect.. Mission Beach is a popular place for families too, they have a boardwalk and roller coaster. Mission Bay, you can rent a jet ski or go boating. And Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Hollywood, and Six Flags up in Orange County and LA are not that far of a drive, 1-2 hours. Mexico is always a fun little day trip.
I'm not sure if you were looking to head this far, but if you are I think your family would have a good time there.

We have a 15 year old and a 10 year old. Last summer we spent a week at Cordoreus State Park in Pennsylvania. It is located in York County and is near the Maryland Border.
They rent cabins and yurts. The yurts have facilities that you can cook in. However we stayed in a cabin and it was wonderful. They cabins have electric but not water. However water supply and bathrooms (very clean and big) are nearby.
We cooked on the grill and did our dishes with hot water in the sink outside the bathrooms.Yes the park supplies free hot water and showers. The park it is gigantic and you will need to use your car or a bike to get through the whole park. There is 2,000+ acre lake that you can go boating and fishing. There is also a built in resort style swimming pool. Styled in the manner of F. Lloyd Wright.
They also have disc golf in the park, a marina, hiking trails and horseback riding (though you need to supply the horses.
York Co. is the factory tour capitol of the world, and we went to tours of Utz potato chip factory, and Revonah Pretzels where every pretzel is rolled by hand. These tours were free and the kids loved them. There are also tours for Harley Davidson, Wolfgang Candy Co. It also is close to Hershey PA and Gettysberg. There is not a shortage of things to do.
Our kids want to go back again this year since we didn't get to do 1/2 of the things that we wanted to do.
The town of Hanover is clean and has lots of great restaraunts. It was one of the best vacations we had.

I highly recommend camping! Have done it my entire life with 3 kids, even, yes, when they were babies. They behaved better when camping, I think cause there were less restrictions. Yellowstone is my favorite! If you don't want to get 'all the gear' you can have the best of both worlds. Some campgrounds rent cabins, or RV's, but you have to plan ahead. If you stay in a KOA,they have indoor bathroom facilities with plenty of showers (hot too) playgrounds, BB hoops, varies with each one. Most have heated pools. And it's economical, cheaper than hotels. You can BBQ, or they cook one meal/day in a KOA. A very nice one we stayed in was the KOA outside of West Yellowstone. I can't say enough about camping with kids. So much to do from 'hiking' , fishing, taking pictures, campfires, smoores, it's the best vacations I've had.
