They're just doing their job. If you get a call from them, POLITELY ask them to put your phone # on the "Do Not Call" list. Don't try to be Veronica Mars and act like a smartass. Show some class.

I think what irritates people is that nowadays telemarketers make many auto-calls first to find out what is the best time to reach you home. It is more efficient for them. Saves them people-time.

I just received a call from (201) 266-0965. So, I did some research and found this thread http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-201-266-0965 . You have to agree it is difficult to be polite when someone repeatedly calls and hangs up on you when you answer.

A tip for telemarketers: be respectful, leave a message, and an option to unsubscribe.

It is unfortunate that some people need to earn a living thatway but telemarketing is the most anoying form of advertising. When my phone rings I want to hear the voice of a friend not someone trying to hoodwink me into giving them some information or buying something I do not need.

I haven't received a telemarketer call in years. The number of calls from them died when we ditched the land line and went strictly cellular.

Everyone has the right to make a living. Don't answer if you don't want to talk to them. Call ID phones are inexpensive. Don't be rude. Tell them you respect what they do for a living but no you are not interested. If they persist then hang up!

Because sales calls are disruptive. It is honestly an invasion. I don't use those tactics but I understand why people do that in some cases.
