Overcoming: as hard as trying to nail jello to a tree
overcoming successfully is a win at the bowling alley.
overcoming has opened some opportunities for other options. (Or something like that)

Bitterness: the gall that sticks in the throat
"
" is the bad becoming worse by burning and baiting in my breast, beating me with my own burning brands.

People: as numerous as ants in the jungle
" have hurt me horribly over the hundreds of weeks of my humorless life

" the other end of the rope that attaches them to me - my end is fine except that I wish I could cut off their end and toss it away.

Now the idea is to show that you are a success and encourage others to achieve success too. Bitterness only hurts the bitter person. And can last and last unless it is resolved.

Have fun with the preparation. I hope my meager efforts have given you some ideas, if not actual words to use.

Similies: I decided that the bitterness I harbored against others did no damage to them, but instead was like pouring a glass of poison for them but drinking it myself.

Metaphors: My bitterness was a: fire; crutch; wall. Fire: searing my heart. Crutch: excuse I leaned on instead of seeking peace. Wall: something I put up in order to avoid open communication and resolution of the problem.
