In a lisitng of chemicals, indentical names are sometimes followed by "indicator gr". What does that mean and as importantly what does that imply about the actual compound (quality, purity, etc...)? Thanks.

As Aldo says it means indicator grade, there are other grades such as technical grade or analytical grade or spectroscopy grade.

Indicator grade is one of the lower forms. If you want to know purity etc then you will need to look at the C of A for the batch or at a technical specification for the product.

This means indicator grade- one of the lowest grades of purity.

There many levels of purity and may differ from one field to another. Example: Purity grades in Medicine and Pharmacy vs. Purity grades in Chemistry
