Hey don't get me wrong, Jordan is a good solid writer with a firm grasp of where his story is going. I read the first one when it came out, and year or so later the second and year or so later the third. I read 3 to 4 books a week (more in winter)....so by book four...its like I have to go back and reread the first three and then I finish the fourth one and realise "This guy had no intent of stopping" as long as he keeps drawing things out.....people keep buying the product . I can see why its call the wheel of time series... It's going to take him his lifetime to finish them.....and you a life time to read them....come on...what are we up to now....book 10 or 11...all 800 pages or more....pleaseeee

hahaha i know wat u mean. i started reading them 3 years ago and i just finished book 11. When is he going to finish book 12? I got into this series thanks to my friend, but he kept telling me what was going to happen! He stopped reading in the middle of the 5th book. he got out while he could. now i feel like i need to finish the whole series cuz thats how i am.

My problem with the series is that it is so drawn out, i can barely remember the beginning. It could have ended quite a few books ago and still been very good. All of the books from the beginning have blended together in my mind now.

Another problem i have with the series is that it is extremely dense. There is so much going on that sometimes you can read hundreds of pages without ANYTHING happening. One of the books (maybe it was 9 or 10?) was just 500 pages of his characters doing a whole bunch of useless stuff without advancing their plots at all!!

Don't get me wrong, theseare some of my favorite books. But i think he could have logically ended the series many, many books ago. It could have ended before we had forgotten all of the beginning. It should have ended before most of our favorite characters died or simply left the story. And it definately should have ended before all of his main characters became political giants, losing their emotional sides. They used to be familiar, they were the small town farmers against all evil, and that is what we love and relate to, it makes us feel as though we, too, could make a difference if we tried. I feel as thought his characters have become stale and too developed, they are just not the same people they were in book 1, or even 2 or 3.
I have to agree that i was so used to trilogies in fantasy that when i hit book four i was thinking "how long will this last???" because nothing was coming to a close.

the wheel of time series is still one of my favorites, and i still eagerly await the 12th book.

I didn't really face that problem as i just started reading the books about six months ago. i don't think he could have finished in less books because there was a lot that had to be done before the last battle (rand uniting the nations, perrin becoming the wolf king .........etc)
The 12th book is the last and is called "A Memory of Light" and is set to come out in 2008 or 2009. Jordan says the book will be about 2000 pages.
Your right about one thing it did take him his lifetime to finish them,as he's dieing of a rare blood disease.
