Not just peculiar to Bush.... Many "intelligent people in government" say it the same way... What difference does it make? It is an insult to reasonable use of the English language. There is nothing ambiguous about the pronunciation of the word NUCLEAR : New-Klee-Err. There must be something more than ignorance behind this obvious gross mis-pronunciation of such a straight forward and significant word by those that supposedly lead this nation...

One of Bush's brothers is dialectic and there have been rumours abound that this also the case with the Majesty himself. This would explain the president lack of interest in even reading about the panic and fear he spreading around the globe. If he cannot pronounce nuclear he should not allowed to be idiot chief, unlike himself who has not once had to face a consequence of his actions, he seems pretty unfazed over the agony and destruction his actions and decisions bare down upon the mere mortals who do suffer the consequences...Mary.

GW Bush was born in Connecticut. He attended Andover -- private high school in New England. Then, Yale and Harvard.
He knows how to pronounce the word "nuclear."
That he says "nukular" means his aw-shucks folksy speak is a sham -- a deliberate attempt to fool the South into thinking he is one of them.
I'd say it worked pretty well, wouldn't you?
In reality, Bush is a Yankee flunkie and screw-up. He's the family embarrassment -- drug use, alcoholism, philandering.
Didn't do one constructive thing until he was in his FORTIES. Then, he ran a few businesses into the ground using his uncle's money to seed the start-ups. Then, Texas Republicans realized they might be able to beat Ann Richards through name recognition -- and, voila, Bush got his chance to outdo his dad.
And, all of America is suffering his little Oedipus thing.

He probably could if he tried. It's pretty much the same as in someone pronouncing potato differently. It's just a form (albeit incorrect) of dialect.

Lets not make fun of anyones speech. You know he is from Texas and they have a different draw than us folks here in the United States. His brother Jeb, learned to speak a different tonuge when he became President of Fla, Bush just didn;t take the time to do so.

It's possible he was forced to use the "sight/see" method that originated in liberal California and has proven to be an extremely poor method of teaching. Maybe Kerry used it too which is why he had such a heard time with the name Genghis Kahn.

I admit that "atheist" would not fall less than the palms all proper, yet i do not get it both. there's a spell checker proper there ---> in the event you write "athiest" yet not something can help you with unfavorable grammar. *puzzles*.
