Ok, this is the third an FINAL time I'm going to try this question, lol.

Alright, I'm thinking about taking Journalism for my Freshman year at High School. Do any of you have any information that you could share with me about the class? Likes? Dislikes? Do you take the class? Does one of your friends take the class? Pros? Cons? I just want some general information here.

Thanx! And 10 points for the best answer!

journalism is fun and it's a different type of writing from what you're used to in english class. my major was journalism and public relations in college; currently i am a web editor, meaning i write for and maintain a web site. it's a good experience and if you're interested in as a career, its good that your HS offers it. this way when you get to college, you know what to expect. the previous answerer said that journalism might not be a good career to get into--it is true that people aren't picking up the paper as much as they used to, but they're all turning somewhere else to get their news--most the web. with new media, writing skills, as well as design skills, you'll do fine. follow your passion. or if you just want a screw off class, give it a try!

If you like writing, then sure journalism might be the class for you. But if you are considering it for preparation for that career, you might want to rethink your career. The newspaper industry has been declining as the Internet and internet webnews is expanding greatly. No one spends the time or money to read the newspaper anymore, so you wouldn't be guaranteed a job in 20 years if the industry keeps declining. You could instead try a fun class you like at your school like art. Every journalism class I've known has never been as good as it should have been in terms of actually accomplishing and learning a lot.
