I am serious. Do not bother with silly answers here. The problem is not just with the president. We as a people have to learn to speak up. For a pollster, on the phone you can easily say, certainly the war in Iraq is going badly and we should not be there. But if we really want to change political directions now, we have to speak loudly. We need to make an effort. The recent Peace rally in D.C. was rather poorly attended in my mind for a greater than 60% disapproval of the war. It was not covered to any great extent by the media either. Also all we saw from the media was the same old protestors. Jane, Jesse etc. We need NEW perspective, new ideas, a new vocie. and we need it to be loud. The vocie of many.

Hitler was immensely popular with the Germans in his time and Lincoln was very unpopular with Americans during his day. According to your logic we should do what is most popular in the polls. Imagine the world we would live in if that was the way history played itself out.
Occasionally going against what is popular is what's right.

Well I am not saying most are 'for' it.
But its obvious the polls are skewed.
Have you ever been polled on something? I have and they ask questions in a way which leads you into a direction they want to go.
Plus I rarely see even polling. I know in a recent cbs poll i was looking at they polled 60% dems and 40% rep.

The polls are misleading and that is why it seams there was not an appropriate amount of protesters. I if asked would say that I don't like the war or the way it is going but if you asked me whether or not we should be there the answer is yes. The numbers are based on how the question is ask.

We live in a republic featuring representative democracy, not a direct democracy, thank God! The people DO have a voice, and it is exercised the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November every four years. The President has no business governing by poll results. We elected him to serve as our leader, not our official poll-watcher.

No one has ever polled me or anyone else I know and I really have no way of knowing if the polls are correct. I would not protest anyway, because I think the President has heard and made a plan to get the troops out beginning in the fall.

He's not listening because he wasn't elected to change his position at the whims of the polls. The man was elected to another term of 4 years, and barring illegal action that would require his impeachment he is under no obligation to change his position to whatever the flavor of the day is.

The people don't call the shots. The oil companies and the military industrial complex calls the shots.
The American people are the excuse, not the reason.
Bush serves business. They have bought and paid for him, and now he has no choice but to do what they tell him to do.

when you say 60% are against the war, do you mean that of those 60% everyone of them is totally against the war, or is everyone else who is not 100% against it thrown in there to make numbers look bigger.

He's the decider. You're not the decider. I'm not the decider. He's the decider. Now how do you argue against that?
