Just wondering what this is. I bought a 2000 Bravada and have no idea what this feature is.

Smart-Trak was GM's all-wheel-drive system, also known as full-time 4-wheel-drive.

Not a true 4 wheel drive. It has power to all 4 wheels, but has a variable torque split, instead of the 50/50 split found on "true" 4 wheel drives (like the old Land Rover). This means that it will always put more power to the rear than to the front. I discovered this on a straight, icy road when it slid into a ditch at 25mph. While trying to back out, I found that the rear tyres were both spinning, and both of the fronts were still stationary. More gas (around 3500 rpm) finally got one of the fronts to spin, but by this time, the rear tyres were spinning too fast to help. The Smart Trak system seems to make the vehicle more stable in dry and damp conditions, but when traction is significantly reduced, it acts like a rear wheel drive.
