The absolute best way is to have your friend do it and when they get close to the door, hit an air horn to scare them within an inch of their lives.
Or better yet, call the people let them know your friend is on the way and get them BUSTED BIG TIME... Then when they ask, you deny all knowledge of the matter.
These are my sure-fire foolproof ways to mess with your friends...
Good luck, do some sprint work like 100 to 200 yard dash to quicken your times!

Find the closest, most concealing hiding place, BEFORE you ring the doorbell. Also try going around to the back of the house.

the trick is not to run, but to ring the bell and find a good place to hide where you cant be seen but you can see the person.
don't do it durring the day, you are sure to get caught.
