Why is makeup usually for women??

Because the primary mode of attraction for men is visual. A man is usually interested in how a woman looks first, and everything else second.

Women are much more interested in the complete package, which is not to say they don't care about a man's looks, but appearance to a woman is generally no more, or less, important than other factors they find attractive (personality, confidence, accomplishments.)

Also, makeup done properly creates a more healthful, youthful (and sometimes sexual) appearance. This can translate to "readiness to mate" or "good breeding material" in a man's mind. The younger and more genetically healthy a female, the more likely she will bear strong, healthy offspring. In the same line of thought, women realize that the better they look, the greater the chance they will be "selected" by a potential mate, so there is great competition amongst females to look better than their peers.

Really, makeup is a con that women use to trick men into choosing them. It's a shame too, because they end up having to make fools of themselves - putting gunk on their faces each day, and taking it off each night, just so they can be "accepted" in society. They try and rationalize this by claiming the makeup isn't for men, its for themselves so they'll look better, or feel better about themselves, which is total nonsense. Who are they trying to look better for??? Certainly not other women! If makeup makes them feel better, it's only because other people make them feel bad about who they are. If mirrors didn't exist, neither would makeup.

Vanity is such a joke. The first thing I tell women I date is that I think they are much more beautiful without any crap on their faces. If people only love them for how they look with makeup, then those people are useless, and will only bring them down.

Women look nasty without it. But in all actuality, makeup is really for men. Heres why: Men can tell who wears makeup. The more makeup a woman wears, the nastier she is underneath. Therefore, a man can decide who to be with by the amount of makeup on her face. An all natural girl is definitely a winner. So think of makeup as a dating meter for men.

Unfortunantly society norms tell us that women wear makeup to make themselves pleasing to men. This gives the illusion that men are still better than women. I guarentee you there are guys out there who wish they could freely wear makeup, but due to American culture cannot.

Because guys fall in love with what they see and women fall in love with what they hear. (I'm using love loosely here of course).

So girl wears makeup (to try and achieve visual perfection) so the guy will like what he sees. Guy then compliments girl on her exquisite beauty and she loves what she hears. Both are happy as a result.

Both are vain creatures though because girl wants the compliments to feel beautiful and guy wants most beautiful chick possible to show off to friends (aren't they jealous? you stud!) or for his own aesthetic enjoyment.

because we're more worried about our looks than guys are. also in my experience, its usually not to impress guys like more guys think its because girls are so judgemental of each other that if we dont' look perfect than you're going to get criticized. thats the same reason for why we are so worried about what we wear and being thin enough.
