Actually, hospitals are kept very clean...because of the germs. They use very industrial strength cleaners that are powerful. I wouldn't have any trouble bringing a 5 month old for a visit. Just be sure to wash your kids hands after you leave.

I took my child to the hospital when he was about 1month old. It wasn't during flu season or anything though. The older people were really excited to see him. I only let one lady hold him because I knew she didn't have anything contagious. And she was kind enough to wash her hands first. I wouldn't worry too much about because their bodies can't gain any imunity to germs if they aren't ever around any. Just make sure they aren't hanging out with all the flu patients.

It sounds to be all right. Usually that type of disease they would keep in the psych ward not the germies ward. Besides if your baby is never exposed to germs then they can never grow immune to them. The only thing stopping you may be age restrictions.
By the way was your child not in a hospital the first couple days of it's life??

Any time you take a baby to a hospital you are exposing them to germs. Is it a regular hospital or a nursing home? If it is a nursing home it would probably be ok. If its a hospital you might consider since your baby is so young. It's your decision though, it's your baby.

Nope. I just had mine in the heart transplant unit to visit a cousin. you're really not around anyone but who you are visiting...so make your decision on whats wrong with granny. Not contagious then dint worry. the rest of the trip is walking thru the halls.

I wouldn't risk it and besides around flu season hospitals discourage young kids from visiting since they carry so many germs. Maybe wait till flu season is over!

A lot of hospitals don't allow children onto ward because of the risk of infections, so if you decise to take baby check 1st. It depends on what kind of wards they are.....

i think you could take your baby there, take anti baterial wipes and hand drops. don't let any one that is sick touch your baby and anyone who isnt sick make them wash their hands with warm water and soaps. keep your baby covered and make sure he or she doesnt touch anything. just to be safe. your grandmother should be able to see your baby.
