I mean there so many different races, cultures etc. Why is there only a Black History Month? Why cant history just be for everyone? If anyone should get a fricken History Month it should be the Native Americans. What's up with that? I mean really im not being racist I just want to know why one group of people get it but others dont?

Yes, but theres not a history month for every race. Thats not fair to the rest of us!

I just think history should be for all of us and not have special months for certain groups. To be fair!

I totally agree with you. There shouldn't be a specific month dedicated to only one race, it's just unfair. Every race has their struggles in the country and they deserve to be celebrated. However, since there are only twelve months in a year, you can't celebrate them all, so there shouldn't be a month dedicated only to a certain race.

There are months celebrating other's cultures as well. Many people don't know about them because they aren't as publicized as black history month. For example, it took going to a Rangers baseball game for me to find out that there was actually a hispanic culture month; it's in September. If it wasn't for me going to the game I wouldn't have ever known. I do agree with you though, the others should be put out there just as much.

Black history month was the overreaction that this country does quite often to make up for its lack of existence of the history of the black race. I think it needs to be abolished unless, like you said above, this country recognizes all of the various races that have made a contribution to this country of ours, especially native americans.

One devoted to Polish Irish German Italian and on and on
they wanted their ancestors
those who sweated the trip to this country
and the trips accross this country
to be known
they wanted it known that indentured servants
WERE WHITE
when they were given no chioce but sent on a boat IN CHAINS to somewhere they'd never been
not knowing what was to become of them
and that african americans didn't suffer the only injustice in the worlds history
Why isn't there a Jewish History month
They sufferd alot at the hands of a mad man

I understand what you mean about fairness, but that is the reason that black history month was created. Black history was never celebrated researched or even cared about. it was very much suppressed actually. Futhermore blacks knew less about their own history than any other race. Black history month was neccessary. In case you haven't noticed other groups celebrate their history all year round and they always have. We get the shortest, coldest month in the year.

Every race has significantly contributed to the American culture. Feb is Black History month. Asian-American month is in May. Hispanic-American month is Sept.15-oct.15. October is Italian-American month. November is Native-American month. Please take the time to research other cultures and holidays. We all have to live in this country and we all have contributed to America's history, We all need to get along.

I have to admit you have a point. I hate prejudice as much as the next person. We white people were included in that "I have a dream speech"....but if we applaud Martin Luther King Jr for wanting white and black to get along.........UH-OH....

I guess that is why there is no United Caucasian College Fund for the poor white people.....

However - I wonder if there is a way to petition to get a Native American month......they WERE here first!!!!!

Let's do it!!!! And if there already is one - we need to make it known......

Hispanic Heritage Month is in September, American Heritage Month is in November, Women's History Month is in March, and Asian Pacific Islander History Month is in May. Oh, and Native American Heritage Month is in November. Surprised?

It would really be nice if other cultures would have a month to celebrate their heritage because everything in america is geared towards the the white culture. what ever it is that may be.
and history can't be for everyone because every show on t.v. is predominantly white and everything else is also. it is very unfortunate but america is really not fair to anyone but whites.
