I mean come on... They will play a total of FIVE top ranked teams during the entire regular season! Their toughest opponents to finish the season are Vandy and Bama...

I know that they are defending their title from last year. I know that they have many of those players back this year, but they play in a weak conference and chose to play few strong opponents out of conference.

I'll make the prediction right now that they don't make it to the Final Four this year. If they have to go up against a low-ranked bubble team out of the ACC early in the tourney, they might not even make it past the Sweet 16.

It's currently legit, but do I think Florida will repeat? No. It's incredibly difficult to repeat and better teams in the past than Florida have failed. Of course a lot of it depends on the draw they get in the tournament but they've played too many teams close for comfort lately. I would definitely put them in my Final Four though. Vanderbilt is actually a very good win this year, Bama is terrible though.

A lot of it is based on the fact that it is almost EXACTLY the same team that won the championship from last year. They clobbered 3rd ranked Ohio State, barely lost to Kansas despite not having arguably their most valuable/versatile player in Corey Brewer, beat Vandy... and lost to Florida State when Al Thornton was out of his mind and they were again missing Brewer. They will make it to the final four this year, but so much is about having 6 good games in a row... I think they lose to Wisconsin in the Final 4. There is ABSOLUTELY no way they miss the sweet 16. There is a reason they aren't in the top 50 in RPI, however.

I don't think it's "artificial" as much as just a weak NCAA this year. I think this might become an every-other-year trend now w/ all the freshmen and high school players coming to the NBA early. I'm a Notre Dame fan, but Texas is really starting to catch my eye. I think Florida going all the way again in this type of league wouldn't be that hard, considering the fact that they are a proven team and they know how to play w/ each other. This doesn't mean that I think that they're great, it's just an inconsistent year for the majority of the programs out there.

First of all they will play five ranked teams 0 TOP ranked teams. UCLA should be #1 (strongest SOS/ teid for best record/best conference). Any suggestion that this is a weak year for the NCAA is ludicrous. Because of the new NBA age rule this is one of the best years in a LONG time. There are just more great teams than usual and a more even field. Florida will not repeat.

Their #1 ranking is as real as the plants that grow in the amazon. Even though they have may have a weaker schedule than North Carolina, Ohio State and others, they are a team tha knows how to win big games. Forget the loss in Las Vegas to Kansas (by one shot), and forget the loss to Florida St (at Florida St, where no one really has a chance to win because the refs make bad calls there). They are a good team, and deserve to be #1.
