Aw! Ferrets! A tall cage with ramps is best for a ferret as they like to slink and climb. Most ferrets enjoy having a hammock to sleep in (two can share!). Ferrets can also be litter trained (a big plus for all that cleaning!). They need exercise, so make sure you take them out of their home so they can run around.
Some people let their ferrets run around like cats and dogs but I don't think this is such a good idea. They are smaller and very curious and could get stuck behind something, or up into something that could cause a headache for you or a serious life/death situation for them!
They love toys! They usually like hiding their toys when you aren't looking! Ferrets need a lot of attention so I suggest getting two to keep each other company when you aren't around. Two females would probably the best for you since you're a "first-time-ferret-owner"! They aren't as stinky and usually have calmer personalities (even though they will still nip you!).
A ferret is a wonderful, entertaining pet to have! I hope you find a ferret you love soon!

they are actual domesticated! I own 2. They even have their own exhibits on the yankee Ferret affiliation interior the U.S. that is particularly unusual to me. Why might they think of they do no longer seem to be? A puppy save does not sell non-domesticated animals. except that is an unique or marine save. It particularly bothers me that folk hear something approximately an animal that is thoroughly absurd and untrue yet they do no longer care and make a huge fuss out of it. particularly they are greater domesticated than cats, basically much less standard. Ferrets won't be able to stay interior the wild whilst cats can. that is not any longer legal to do this with the aid of animal. yet, that is their condominium and their regulations. To me, this may well be a type of strange circumstances yet you're able to print out or locate info that they are, in certainty, domesticated because of the fact that is not any longer honest what they try to do. that is like announcing cats or canines are not domesticated.

Ferrets are cute and funny to watch - but they do have a tendency towards smelling. Unless you know you have the time (and motivation) to regularly clean the cage and give the ferret a bath, it may not be in the best interest of your future guests to buy one.
Personally, I find rats easier to take care of, and usually a little sweeter to people. But if you're set on a ferret, I've known more than one happy ferret owner who never regretted it.

ferrets are wonderful pets!!!
pros:
1. playful
2. cute!!
3.very intelligent
4. love to be held
5. affectionate
6. entertaining to watch
cons:
1. very high maintenance
2. quite expensive
3. need lots of attention
4. some of them (mainly males) can be very stinky
p.s.- make sure you do as much research as possible before buying one, and i would suggest buying 2 of them for a playmate, whenever you're not around
p.s.s.- your ferrets will most likely have a favorite toy, which is soooo cute, and they hide thier toys a lot in a "hidey hole"!!
suggestion- marshall farms ferrets; very common, and well bred

Ferrets make great pets, but they require quite a bit of time and commitment. Before you make your decision, here are a couple of good web sites to check out for information on their needs, equipment requirements, and health issues.

And if you want to go to a ferret show and talk to owners: http://www.ferret.org/events/shows.shtm
