once youve downloaded the file, and you have an image file, like .img or something like that, you can open the file with either Nero, Roxio, or Magic ISO, and then burn it to a blank dvd with that program you opened it with. the key is to burn the image file. then it will play on your dvd player.

CyanidePrincess answered your question, but I'll follow-up with a different approach.

Most of the files I download are AVI files. Now, when I want to watch it on my DVD player, I used to encode it with Nero, and then I get about 2 hours worth on my DVDs. More often than not, maybe because I have a weak computer, the audio does not sync with the video after a while.

Then came Christmas. I found this $40 Philips DVD player that plays Divx files. It handles the files themselves, so I don't need to re-encode them again. I'm not limited to two hours anymore. I'm limited to 4.7 GB!!!

A normal 40 minute TV show without commercials is 350 MB, so you can fit 13 episodes of your favorite show. Try it.

I won't suggest you get this if you frequently loan your DVDs to your friends, since all they can do with it is watch it on their computers.

You need a proper video burner, and the converter should support DVD decoding which will make your burned discs playable on your home player
