A whole year! LOL!!
Playing the guitar is just service to the song. Ask everyone from Eddie Van Halen to Les Paul...
It's not how fast you play but what you do to add to the listener's experience; otherwise all yr good for is some sad-case YouTube video!
Yr choice. George Harrison or sad-case on YouTube...

Been playing a whole year have you,and in a band wow. You're not musically bright enough to realise there's no magic formula's to being able to play fast.It comes with practice and nothing else but. Forget all the shite of gripmasters and oiling the palm of your hand or oiling anything else.Practice scales and modes till you can do them in your sleep.

practice makes perfect. Also, my husband has played for 15 years and he still uses a "Grip Master" for hand and finger strengthening. Hope this helps

Practice everyday.
Practicing 10 min. everyday is also better than practicing 1 hour for one day out of the week.

Use a heavy pick and practice each at a faster tempo. The heavy pick has less flex and more control.

try oiling or sticking some hand cream on your palm it certainly increases sliding up and down the fret board :)
