Hi. I had recently inquired about this shot after seeing a flyer in my doctor's office. However, they told me that this shot is only effective if you are between teen years and around age 26. They said that after age 26 you are not protected even if you have the shot. I also went online and researched this and the manufacturer of the shot also recommends it just for this age range. So if you are over 30 like me it is not effective.

The immunization is for everyone. At your next checkup ask your doctor about it. Mine recommended it at my last checkup. The focus is on giving it to teens before they become active, but it is for women of all ages who meet the criteria.

sorry to give you information that is conflicting other answers you received, but I read they will not give it to women over 30 because it has not been tested on women of this age....I think this is unfair, because women that age have most likely not been exposed to all the forms of HPV that the vaccine protects against.....they are coming out with a different HPV vaccine, so let's hope they'll be willing to give that to older women

I thought I saw on the commercial that it is for women up to 26. I guess the rest of us are just out of luck.

right now it is only approved for women ages 9-26, but they may expand the age limit as they do more research.

Yes, women 30+ CAN get the Gardasil. My HMO told me this.

young girls and those who are not sexually active are the better choices for this immunization.
