Never heard anything good about it? I've never heard anything bad about it.

It is brilliant from start to finish, it paints the most poignant picture of a particular time and place.

Atticus Finch is a man of such honor, humor, education and grace that I believe he is the ultimate model for fatherhood. The very fact that his children call him "Atticus" is not out of disrespect but moreover an equality that only the most secure relationship can bear.

Boo Radley is another character that is just flawless in Lee's presentation.

Do yourself a very big favor and read this book and as Maggie suggested see the film version with Gregory Peck---he was Atticus in every way.

Another interesting side note, is that the character of Dill is based on Lee's childhood companion, Truman Capote. Invest in your mind, learn all you can--find out a bit about Capote, know his greatest success in "In Cold Blood", delve into Harper's very private world.

Learn--it's the most exhilarating and liberating thing on earth. Don't let others bad judgment ever sway you.

Good luck with the book, may it inspire you as it has so many others.

I just finished a few weeks ago, everybody have their opinions and I respect them, but here's mine: it was such a slow book, the main plot of the book shows up right in the MIDDLE of the book, can you imagine that? It was driving me crazy, I started to enjoy it at the middle!!! From that point forward it was good, but the beginning was so confusing, I mean confusing in the sense that what did the kids of the story's behavior and games and chats had to do with the main plot?
I mean if the author would have just suppress that boring part, the main plot would not have been affected anyway.

I HAD to read To Kill a Mockingbird when I was in 7th grade.
I've picked it up and gone cover to cover 3 time since then. It is a must read. Even if it is just to under stand the joke of "having a Boo Radly day"

It is really an awesome book. My mom gave it to me as a Christmas present as a kid and it has been one of my favourite books ever since. It isn't really hard to read and it has a very good message about racism, but that isn't the whole part of the story. It is also a lot about childhood and growing up and just learning about how people are different. I think you will enjoy it.

Hey! Cool! It's about time. For some reason, Muslims and everyone else thinks its perfectly ok to go around killing JEWS all the time, dont they. So it's ok for you to do it, but if the Jews stand up and start fighting back, oh thats so WRONG, isnt it! Nope, it's not. And I hope they do. It's the Jews who have been persecuted, slaughtered, murdered, tortured, slandered, and exiled by EVERY SINGLE NON-JEWISH COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. Jews, perhaps start with the Muslim pigs since it's their life mission to murder every single Jew on the planet, and then go from there. And P.S. You will notice that the Rabbi is calling for Jews to be permitted to kill *Gentiles who threaten Israel*. It's about time Gentiles learn that they cannot continue to murder Jews without the Jews standing up and putting a stop to it.

It's an excellent book. I suggest you try to get a copy of the film, the Gregory Peck version, and watch it before you read it.

It is an important book, as well as a well-written book, but I think it would help you to see it before you read it.

One of the top 5 American novels ever, and written on a sixth grade level so it's an easy read.

A must-read.
