For the same reason some people say "idear" instead of idea.
Some say pisgetti, instead of spaghetti, for the same reason you hear Bahston or Boston, or youse guys, and yawl. For the same reason that in My Cousin Vinny, when Joe Pesci's character mentioned the two yewts, Fred Gwen's character asked "what's a yewt"

Dialect, accent to an area and upbringing some can go beyond it for what is considered proper speech but in fact very few Americans speak properly at all.
