Honestly, No. People who are Superstitious, after violating a superstition normally get upset and from a Psychological Point of View, have 'Bad Luck' due to there mood. While on the Other hand, those who are Optimistic and Believe that good things will happen normally tend to have 'Good Luck' because of it. He'll probably have something negative happen and believe that it was because of the mirror, in which will make him feel more upset and therefore bring more 'Bad Luck'. The best way around it is by trying to forget all about it but, if he can't, try to be in good situations for a few days (as people should anyway) so that he'll feel more positive.

I don't think covering a mirror is bad luck, but if you want too, go ahead. I'm kind of superstitious, I mean my favorite bookstore, use to have ladders leaning up against shelves with books on them and I thought it would be bad luck if I walked under it. Well, finally I was like so what, and I kept doing that and so far I would say it was good luck.

If superstitious people cover a mirror it will be bad luck
if the break a mirror it will be bad luck
if a black cat crosses their path it will be bad luck
if they walk under a ladder it will be bad luck

I am not superstitious so none of this effects me except breaking the mirror, that is bad luck for me because I will have to pay for a new one.

My grandmother will cover a mirror if someone has passed away in the house. The superstition is that if it is not covered, the deceased's soul will be trapped in the mirror. I've never had anyone pass in my house, so I have never done it, and I can't say how I will act when I am bereaved and if someone dies in my house.

I do wear an Italian horn to ward off the malochio, ("evil eye"). It's supposed to protect the wearer against bad spirits/luck.

Merry Meet and Happy Imbolc to you!!
It's not so much a 'superstition' but as others have mentioned it is a 'spiritual' thing that has been in several cultures throughout history for as long as there were mirrors.. Mirrors used to be made from black onynx (for the very wealthy) as it appears like a black 'volcanic' glass that 'refects' images...onyx has a meaning to keep away negative and 'repel' any 'dark forces' and energies...in this regard- it makes ''sense''that cultures would incorporated this with beliefs of the mirror being a 'spirit' portal so-to-speak and when someone has passed, the mirrors r blocked so that they r not 'trapped'/lost in limbo world of the mirror-the existence in-between; for example to date, it is a jewish custom cover their mirrors with a dark/black cloth for Shiva when someone has passed, even if they did not live in the household.. this also holds true for TRUE practitioners to cover their crystal balls when not in use BUT for the opposite reason of ABSORBING any unwanted energies!

blessed be!
PS: 13 is a LUCKY NO!; BLACK CATS IN MY PATH R WELCOMED!

Covering mirror is a bad luck for the mirror because you are depriving it from doing its job. Indians are among the most superstitious people on this planet. They should not come out from their mother's bhosda because crying brings bad luck for their mother for the rest of her life.

when someone passes, it makes sense to cover the mirror, as it is not yet time for their (the deceased) earthy visit...........the dance of transitioning to the world beyond can take many moons.....some say, it would not be wise for them to visit this earth again in spirit, until they are ready to do so......you must remember, that a mirror can be a portal to the other side........cover the mirror, in honor of the deceased...you would not want them trying to come back too early, and leaving a permanent imprint....becoming "caught" in your mirror.....and in between both worlds.......the world of the living and the world of the dead.............(even though I believe that there is no true death, but you get it)....

Down in Mexico they cover their mirrors on rainy days. Has something to do with spirits and ghost. So I say cover it up.
