You're assuming that moving first is an advantage. It isn't always so in chess. Many Gm's actually prefer playing Black.
However, the rules for chess reached their final form during the 18th century. The player, with his King on the right side, moves first, because most people are right handed. The color of the chess pieces originated in India during the 14th century when racial associations of the 20th century did not exist.
So the short answer is, it's because we (most of us) are right handed, and has nothing to do with the color of our skin.

Not all chess sets are black and white so no it has nothing to do with races. I am drawing a blank about how it was decided who goes first, I am thinking the one whos king is on its color but that is not possible because the king is always on the opposite color because the queen is set on her color.

Why is every thing about race! In checkers the red goes first, does that mean red people are better than black, NO. Hundreds of years ag when rascism did'nt exist and chess was made white went first because they wanted to!
