I'm looking at buying a printer to make CD labels/Covers, print odd photographs and word documents but I am not sure what to get. I have been looking at the HP DJF380 and the Olivetti any way Photo Plus Printer which look quite good and a reasonable price. Any ideas?

Everyone is talking about HP, Lexmark, Epson, etc and they are just not good!

I am now on my second Canon printer and it's outstanding as ever. I use to have a Pixma MP170, now own a Pixma MP460.

I have used every other brand, and they do not last two seconds. (Lexmark and HP were the worst!)

However, I have not experienced an Olivetti before. They used to be around years ago and have finally come back into the picture.

Canons print quality is far superior to any other brand!

Try out the Pixma range. You won't be disappointed!

All this just shows you can't generalise. I've never had any problems with HP printers, but obviously some have. My daughter has problems with a Brother but I'm sure they're not all bad. I'd go for the HP, especially since cartridge prices for this one seem reasonable (little tip: the HP website often has very good prices on cartridges). But even running costs depend on how much you use the printer. Many people don't use much at all.

My EPSON 320 will print photos, easy peasy CD labels, Etc... Heres the biggest bonus, I got a 'Continuous Ink Supply System' at the same time as the printer (OK, made printer look more expensive) With CISS, my cartridge costs dropped to forty pence for a cartridge full of ink (13ml) Against genuine epson prices, I have saved enough to buy 2 new printers already!!!! Results are perfect.
Have a look at this to get the idea,

You can use 'Continuous Ink Supply System' as a search term on ebay, then you will see just which printers you can use this system on.

Hi one vital thing when looking for a printer the cost of replacement ink cartridges.

There are some good quality printer's printer/scanners etc all singing and dancing but buy ink cartridges for some models and the can be half the cost you paid for the printer literally.

I say look at Epson first every body these days make copy cartridges and they can be as cheap as chips.

Steer clear of Lexmark, HP their cartridges are an arm & a leg.

Don't get the HP. Had two printers from them break, one in a month which they replaced after some hassle, then a second, bigger & better model that stopped working after 3 months. HP was hard enough to deal with on the phone, and they said the replacement printer did not have a guarantee since it was better than the one it replaced. Just thought you should know.

I love HP for digital imaging. I have an older one, but it still does really well. If you are going to be printing a lot of pictures, you might consider buying one that's just a photo printer separate from your regular one, because then you don't have to cut the pictures! Anything will work for CD labels, so if that's all you're printing, I wouldn't spend too much.

HP is the best way to go. They really have it down and they have the items you need at a great price.
