I had a hysteroscopy today under general anaesthetic. My surgeon told me afterwards that the only thing they saw was that my womb is not the regular "triangular" shape, but that it's "heart" shaped.

Has anyone else heard of this, or got this? What are the implications for having children/fertility? She really didn't explain it that well, and, obviously, it's playing on my mind somewhat!

Any help, advice or information would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Yes I have a heart shaped uterus or otherwise known as a bicornuate uterus.
When I was first diagnosed I had a rather large septum dividing my uterus in two.
I had this removed through surgery to make the uterine cavity larger. (Because at this point I had suffered a couple of miscarriages)
Anyway, I have since had two healthy babies, which were delivered by caesarian section. (as it was deemed too risky for normal delivery.)
Please don't worry. All has worked well for me, I'm sure it will for you.
Best wishes. SJCxxx

Look in the past answers as someone asked this question within the last month or two. I answered it because I have one too - but if you look for it you will get all the other answers.

I looked it up and its a question from jody_joyo asking:
"What's a bicornuate uterus? How is this going to stop me having kids? I have recently suffered a miscarriage. The doctors think I was up to 8 weeks pregnant. I didn't know I was until Monday and then Tuesday I was attacked with a knife and pushed against a wall and then started bleeding straight after and had severe stomach pains. After most of the night at the hospital I was told a few days later that I have a bicornuate uterus and that this is probably the reason why I miscarried. I don't know what to do. I can't cope with anymore"

this means end messing around with the Ouija board on the instant because of the fact that's risky. that's no longer the Ouija board it quite is speaking to you yet somebody from the spirit international. take care of those messages with the comparable warning which you're able to if a actual individual who's a stranger got here as much as you and started speaking to you like this. If that's this way of spirit it quite is coming to you and your pal, then you quite genuinely might desire to end till now genuine harm is finished if it has no longer already been executed. in case you seem on the FAQ web site of the positioning mentioned below, you will see some approaches to maintain your area energetically clean and probably get this spirit individual or human beings to go on. If all this sounds frightening to you, then stable, because of the fact that's only no longer something to play with.

I'm obviously no expert, but my wife is with me and has been told a similar thing. Basically it shouldn't hinder fertility. There is a chance that conception may take longer but there is no statistical evidence. If you have any more worries I would suggest you contact your GP for further advice.

It's not that big of a deal. It shouldn't impact conception or carrying a child or delivery. It's not like your uterus is bifurcated or there is an anomaly that would preclude normal pregnancy/birth. Google "heart-shaped uterus" and see what you find.

I think that you can relax - you're just different than most.

Cat, I truly feel that if it had been of any significance or threat to you or your future, she would have made note of it and absolutely been sure that you were aware of the risks. Try www.webmd.com, and see what that site has to say. Don't be afraid or hesitant to call your doc up and ask her. That is the only way to truly know.
