What do you think about Days Of Our Lives lately?

I have been watching this show since I was about 10 years old or so and I love it because it gives me something to look forward to coming home every weekday. I love watching the stories of these people's lives unravel day by day. However... the writing lately hasn't been what it was growing up. I've heard that Days might not continue past 2009 and I would hate to see that happen to a show I have been loyal to for over ten years. So I'm curious... for my fellow Days fans... what do you think of the show as of late?

The quality goes up and down a lot. I could do without Marlena. I liked her at one time, but I've had enough. I hate the "possessed by Satan" and demonistic stuff. I don't watch soaps for that.

I wish John would let his grey shine through and stop dying his hair. It looks so fake.

I wish Julie and Doug would come back permanently. They were the first Supercouple.

I wish Sami would just tell the truth finally. The thing with Elvis wasn't her fault. Lucas and Sami deserve to be together now. They can go through OTHER trials later.

I wish Kate would leave. There can always be new villainesses. I've had enough of her. I thought Victor was turning good for a while. I don't see Victor messing with Bo's grandchild like that. I think it's out of character for him to hurt Carolyn's son, grandchild, and great-grandchild. He really loved Carolyn/Caroline. And I wish they'd make up their mind about her name. It's fluctuated back and forth between Carolyn and Caroline over the years. Victor used to call her Caroline all the time, and so did her husband Shawn. Now Victor calls her Carolyn. I think John and a few others called her Carolyn. The writers need to get that straight.

Philip is the new baddie. Do you think something will happen to him before long?

Chelsea and Nick. Hmmm... She might fall for him, then all h*ll will break loose when she finds out about Lonely Splicer and the photo. And about her mom. Not good.

Mickey is missing in action. Where's he supposed to be now? When will he be replaced?

Too many weird things on that show. I still watch all the time, because the parts I like, I really love. BUT, some of the plots are just too weird and not like the show I used to love.

Sorry for rambling. I just wish some soaps were like they used to be.

One thing I hate is the instant gratification, so to speak. Remember when someone would get pregnant and nobody knew the real father for a real ten or fifteen years? Now they have to fess up within a year. Nobody can stretch out plots anymore. New writers come in and change everything. Why did Shawn and Belle have to find out about Claire so soon? It would have made for a great storyline had she stayed with Philip, but maybe Philip could have found out the truth, and years down the road he could have blurted it out during a drunken rage, and THEN she would have left him! Maybe Shawn and Belle could have had a little thing on the side a few years from now, then felt guilty... I don't mean I wanted Belle to be with Philip, but the angst is what keeps people interested and makes the final pairing so great!

Anyway, why can't they drag out some of the storylines like they did twenty years ago? It kept you wondering if and when anyone would find out. Relatively, things are wrapped up too quickly.

LOL! I started writing as soon as the question went up, but as you can see, I had a lot to say, so it took me a while!


ADDED: I heard new writers are stirring things up and getting rid of some people. I was just starting to like Mimi. I hope she stays.

Ok I started watching the show about 4 years ago and the Sammy Lucas saga is in a constant loop and drives me crazy. I think the EJ story line show a little hope. Abe, Lexi, Tek are boring there was so much of an oppurtunity to do somethng with them but it was a wash. Bo and Hope are ok. I have to say though I really like the Nick and Chelsea storyline now that things are going in a positive direction. I cant stand when the show was doing a lot of the flash backs like they did last year. Anyway that is my thoughts.

I, too, have watched Days since I was probably 11...Thing is, I'm now 54....So I have literally watched the show since day 1...Days was always known for its super-couples....Alice and Tom, Doug and Julie...Mickey and Maggie...Patch and Kayla...Roman and Marlena...and of course, Bo and Hope...Bo and Hope still seem to go strong(but I wish just once Hope would get pregnant and KNOW it's Bo's from the beginning!) I dont think any of the newer couples will ever have the magnatism to endure as long as these couples have.....No, the writing is definitely not the same as it used to be, not by a long shot.......Marlenas character has become so dark at times it hard to think of her as the heroine she used to be.....When they replaced Belle, they changed her character so much that I almost prayed that Shawn would stay with Mimi forever...I love it when they dig into the past and re-surface with an old story line..such as bringing in Elvis, Susan Browns child, but they kinda shoved the circumstances under the rug.....I'm thrilled that the brought back Steve, but, because of my job, I dont know....Did they ever explain exactly what happened to him???? Last I saw of him before he was brought back from the dead, it was his funeral, and someone mysteriously switched coffins.....I remain loyal to the show and will watch it til 2009 or beyond but I really hope they bring in a new set of writers to bring back the magic of Days

they need to do something different it is getting kinda boring i didn't watch for a little while and still knew what was going on i would hate for it to go off air they do sometimes have good story lines but they need to stop doing the same old thing put something new in there.

I miss Carrie & Austin and Mike. Bring back Stefano and Kristen!

I'm so sick of John & Marlena and Sammy and Lucas I could just scream!

I don't really like Phillip as a bad guy. I'd like to see him and Belle back together at some point. I don't like the new Belle much at all. I'm going to really miss Mimi. I hope she stays.
