I think adults do personally, because as adults we carry around everything from our childhood. Add to that the stress of being an adult and everything in between, and we end up pretty fragile. Children can actually be quite resilient in stressful situations where some adults cannot. One example I can think of is a life-threatening illness; just look at some of the stories there are out there about kids who go through things like that.

Definitely children because they're still developing mentally and forming their own beliefs, opinions, and behaviors based on the rewards and consequences that each of the three aforementioned ideals bring them. Adults are fairly well set in their opinions and beliefs and also in their actions. Adults know who they are and what they are and are usually more confident in themselves than children.

For example, if you tell an adult who's confident in himself that he's stupid and ugly, he'll tell you to go f___ yourself and be done with you because he has a well-formed, positive opinion of himself . If you tell a child this, the child, depending on its age, has not formed a self-esteem and is more succeptable to what other people have to say about them. Therefore, if insulted repeatedly, the child will begin to believe that the person's insults are true.

A child's mind is like a sponge. It soaks up everything that it comes into contact with, for better or for worse. It is for this reason that a child's psyche is considered very fragile. Many adults' psychological problems are rooted in problematic childhoods because their "sponges" were soaking up negativity instead of positive things. So, people, for their own sakes, treat your children well. And, if you can't treat them well for their own sake, then remember this: They'll be picking your nursing home!

Adults...

Children have a resilience and flexibility that adults seem to have lost.

Personal opinion - children because they are most impressionable and can be affected for years by one or two big negative events - often without even knowing it.

Children. They fear the dark. They believe in ghosts and monsters. They talk to strangers. They trust bigger people blindly. They have no suspicion, no skepticism, no cynicism.
