When purchasing earrings,is 4 carats per earring totalling 4 carats for both too big?

It's not just big . . . it's HEAVY!
Whether 2 carats per ear or 4 carats per ear, you might weigh your earlobes down and increase the size of the holes in your ears if you have such big earrings in them.
Unless of course, they are lightweight fakes.

I think 4 carats for both (2 carats each) is the most I would go. My engagement ring is 4 1/2 carats total, and it is HUGE! You don't want the earrings to weigh down your earlobes! Are these solitaire earrings?

how can it be 4 carats per earring totalling 4 carats for both? if its 4 carats per earring then wouldnt it be 8 carats for both? id say thats not too big if you are black and one of the following: (1) a rapper, (2) a NBA player, (3) a NFL player, or if you are Ryan Seacrest cause he is really gay

That is HUGE! Most people's ears can only support 1 to 1.5 carats. Any bigger and you run the risk of your earlobes folding under. Not only does that look tacky, but no one can even see the earring at that point. Go for something timeless and classy.

no.....i usually hear like 14 or 16 or 23 carats at the lowest.

it depends if it is one stone per earring, or multi stones and how they are set. Still 4 Karats is pretty big! Lucky!
