Why do black people have so many illegitimate children?

And why will so many people get angry about this question? There's nothing insulting about the question and it is a statistical fact.

I'm not "singling out" black people. They have a higher rate of illegitimacy than other races in the US.

I read this in the newspaper in an article about demographics. Are you insulted by the newspaper for printing the report?

I think those APPLES have nothing to do with this question!!!

I don't know. Why don't black men (on Average) take responsibility for their young. Why don't women use birth control. Why during the late 80's and 90's were there sooooo many teenage births.

I don't know. Some say its slave mentality...you know the men as breeders and the massa pride at how many kids they could make but never knew. Maybe the women raising these boys need to teach them responsibility....maybe society needs to be quicker to punish these dead beat dads. Maybe schools need to teach about contraception and DAMN the morals of premarital sex.

Its the same in the Bahamas and in Jamaica and in Haiti and in Trinidad...so it does seem like a black problem (ofcourse its the poor ones not the middle class or upper middle class blacks save a few MEN!!!!).

There is no such thing as an illegitimate child? there are illegitimate parents.were you ever so put down and poor that you could not afford food.Do you think people want to be poor.And why don't the very wealthy help the people that got flooded out in Katrina.Why did exon make more money this quarter than they ever have in the history of the world.And why are the middle class in worse shape now since the great depression.That was in the paper today.And how come the average family in America owe 25,000.00 in credit card debt.greater than ever before.What do you think about those apples.

I think that many people are having illegitimate children, not just African-American people. Society does not value marriage anymore. So, many people just live together instead of becoming married. Many other races cheat on their wives and have children outside of wedlock. I guess the more money you have the more you can sweep under the rug. I commend those women that choose life despite the ignorance of other people. Many celebrities have illegitimate children. No one has asked Angelina Jolie about her illegitimate child. I think people need to realize that what you see on t.v. is not real. We have evolved as a race. Many of us are college graduates, financially stable, and married. As for the comment about monkey see..... We are not or have ever been monkeys. That was an ignorant comment from an ignorant person.

Because it's a well-known fact that many black families come from broken homes and grew up in very bad neighborhoods and received very poor educations. Many grew up without a father-figure. I was reading something for one of my classes about how chidlren who grew up in good families vary from those who did not when it comes to intelligence and making the right decisions in life.

In all seriousness, however, it all depends on how you're raised. I myself grew up in a not-so-great neighborhood but I was taught right from wrong. Many people around me were not, so they turned out differently than I.

And if you really want to know why so many people will get angry with this question, it's because you're singling out one group of people. I'm sure people who are poor of all races have more illegitimate children than those who grew up in better families.

Well, it all has to do with slavery and how many Black men could never be providers and protect their families. But I wish more Black people would marry more often. Hopefully their will be more marriages in the future.

I was taught in school that black people in Africa had many children so when they were grown they take care of their parents but the problem is there is not enough food, clothing and shelter to go around so the children never make it to adulthood. That is why we have Save the Children and the one of the biggest failures of all USA for AFRICA back in the early eighties. All is really needed here is Common sense and a whole lot of friggin birth control. On the front page of a newspaper I read Blacks and Hispanic births went up 50% after Obama was elected President... kinda makes you think do blacks think that the Federal Government is going to hand out money because you ignorant men and women can't find something better to do than SCREW ALL THE TIME. LORD HELP US ALL.
