I take your question to mean how likely is it that a high school student would eventuall become a professional, not how likely is it that a guy would get drafted from the NFL right after high school.
See this great article about odds of playing Division I football:
http://www.varsityedge.com/nei/varsity.nsf/main/football+participation+numbers
Basically, there are about 1 million H.S. football players. There are 1696 NFL players currently (32 teams x 53 players).
So if you're taking about odds and rough numbers, it's something like 0.17% chance of making the NFL (at random) (that's 17 out of 10,000 people, or a little under two out of a thousand). As the article says, though, there are a lot of variables, especially if you've got the talent and drive to work at it nonstop (which can work in your favor by weeding out the people who are never going to make it, or against you, because maybe you just don't have the body or skills to make it.)

First off, it's a good idea to focus on one sport so you can really improve on it. As for which sport to choose, I would go with the NBA because of the longevity. In football, your body takes so much more abuse that people tend to retire in their late 20s, early 30s rather than in the NBA where you can play much longer if you can stay relevant. The only good news about the NFL is that more players are typically chosen. As to how to get into it, since the NBA or NFL doesn't allow for high school players, you need to focus on getting into a big time school where you'll get noticed. For football, look at schools like Texas, USC, Florida. For basketball, look at Duke, UCLA, North Carolina. The bigger the school, the bigger the stage and therefore a better chance of getting drafted. Practice and play hard and scouts will start noticing you. You might want to even think about transferring to a bigger high school. And don't worry about letting time pass you by. If you're still in high school, your body isn't mature enough to handle the stress of pro play. Take your time, work hard so you don't end up like Shaun Livingston.

There are approximately 1,600 players in the NFL. There are about 15,000 college football players on some level. And, there are over 100,000 high school football players. Now, maybe about 10-15% of NFL players turn over every year. So, about 160-200 NFL jobs open up every year. Of the 15,000 college football players, you would have to figure 7,500 are NFL-eligible because you must be a junior or senior. That means about 2% of the eligible college players make the NFL every year.
Now, say 25,000 high school football players are eligible to go play college football every year. There will be about 3,700 college football positions available. So, a high school player has about a 14% chance of playing college football. If you do the math, that means a high school football player has about 3 in 1000 chance of playing in the NFL. Good luck.

There are about 1200 NFL players on the active roster. There are about 18 million high school students. Thus, about 1 in 15,000 based on relative population.
This is an estimate; the exact numbers may be different, but the general scale is correct.

Very, very, very slim. Unless you can somehow squeeze yourself onto the college football team then performing as one of the best in the country, and only then you will get drafted and become a NFL player. Oh, and did I mention NFL players are the best in the whole country?

Chances are slim. But they improve if you are in great physical specimen, larger than average size and have the correct attitude. The most important thing is speed. If you don't have it naturally, you can develop it with work. Dedication and willingness to work are key. And it helps to have good grades to get a scholarship to a good football school. Any dream is difficult to accomplish. That's why the rewards are so great when you make it.

Very slim. As far as I know, only one person has played NFL football who hasn't played college football, Vince Papale, who recently had his story told in the movie Invinceable
