The US has the attitude that technology cures people, not home remedies. Medical research costs money. People in the US are willing to make this investment.

Because medicine is all about profit and nothing to do with curing people. And america is all about profit. Not to mention the country has more than enough money to fund ****.

Compared to many nations we train more doctors, per capita. However, among the industrialized nations we have the most uninsured people. Go figure!
