Unfortunately, America did not pay Japan. Japan had to pay the United States. Along with Germany, Italy, and the other minor Axis governments (except the Azad Hind), Japan had to pay EVERY single victor (even those who didn't give a penny to fighting the Japanese and only fought in Europe) a huge compensation fee.
This left Japan (like the other Axis countries) starving for money, until, thanks to a resurgence of the economy, Japan's GDP skyrocketed. It expirienced that phenomanal growth due to the auto and electronic sectors.

We got to rebuild them afterwards. The Korean War happened a few years later, and the infrastructure needed to wage the war meant that Japan received massive funding.

With all the American blood spilled at Pearl Harbor about 4 years prior to Hiroshima & Nagasaki.

The US did NOT pay for bombing (with Nukes) Japan. As victors, they did not have to.

do you mean what did it cost to develop and drop the 2 bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima? there is no way of telling since most of the info is secret but in today's money probably billions

We paid with our automobile industry. It's tanked ever since the 70s when Japanese cars took over the American auto market.
